Beginners Workshop – SOLID Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Solid shampoo bars are becoming popular due to the growing zero-waste movement and with companies like LUSH making solid shampoos and conditioners. But did you know many shampoo bars on the market are actually cold-process soap bars and not true shampoo at all? Soap is completely unsuitable for the hair as we will explain to you in our workshop. Here we are going to show you how to make a solid shampoo bar and solid conditioner bar that are made with more gentle surfactants and ingredients than are permitted by the EcoCert organic/natural standards.

Solid shampoo bars and Conditioner Bars are similar to a shampoo concentrate and conditioner concentrate – they contain high amounts of cleansing ingredients (surfactants) and conditioning ingredients with very little water. For this reason, they last much longer than liquid shampoos and liquid conditioners and need no plastic packaging which makes them friendlier to the environment.

Learn the power and skills to create your own solid shampoo and conditioner bars that you can feel really good about using in your hair. The first part of the class is about theory (ingredients, formulas, suppliers, rules, do’s and don’t, questions) and the second part will be practice. The workshop is hands on and you will take home the solid shampoo and solid conditioner bars that you have made yourself.
